An installation of Ascending and Descending series at a gallery in Helsinki, where 80mm styrofoam balls glide through the air. In Finland, a day in the summer and the winter are vastly different. A summer day is a white night without a sunset, and a winter day, a polar night with no sunrise in some regions. In this installation, the white gallery space evoked the white night, and the enclosed dark box in the middle of the gallery, the polar night. Viewers could go into this black box and see the balls simmering like an aurora, as if alternately having a day dream and a night dream.
